Depends a lot on circumstances...in general a divorce happens due to a cause and there is a 59% chance your new would be partner was the cause..even without that, divorces often leave behind a lot of mental traumas that go unresolved and affect future relationships ( yes this is true for dating too) I once dated a girl who wasn't over her ex and if we talked for 10 mins , 9 would be about her ex.

Step kids also have an effect, they might not accept you at all, and then there might be a clash of priorities, for your partner, their priority will always be their kids ( over you) which is fully justified from their pov, however you also deserve some of their priority and it is often difficult to balance between the two leaving one side with resentment
