In every VC meeting I ask what the common denominator for success is for their fund. The answer is almost always some variation of "founder awesomeness" Unfortunately the Founder job can be really hard...day-to-day setbacks, high expectations from others, your personal self esteem being tied to business outcomes, so many things outside your control, needing to do so many jobs at once (at least early on), new sets of challenges as you scale, constant micro pivots (or bigger), not paying yourself, worry that you can't pay your employees, scaling fast in chaos, the list goes on. And the problems are different all the time.

Investors are starting to catch on too that it's unreasonable to expect someone to deal with this alone which is why many are asking questions about coping skills and resilience and seeing a single founder as a red flag.

I disagree that paid help isn't needed. The best people do this job professionally and deserve to be paid for it.

You just said exactly what I had been arguing about with others.
