কলকাতা মেট্রোর ভবিষ্যৎ অন্ধকার। যত নতুন নতুন লাইন চালু হবার ছিল, হয়ে গেছে। নোয়াপাড়া থেকে এয়ারপোর্ট পর্যন্ত লাইন ৪ তে সামনের বছর চালু হয়ে যাবে, তারপর বসে থাকো। 
২০৩০ এর কাছাকাছি VIP বাজার থেকে Salt Lake এবং নিউ টাউন হয়ে এয়ারপোর্ট এর মেট্রো তে চালু হবে ও মাঝেরহাট থেকে এসপ্ল্যান্ডের টিও চালু হবার সম্ভবনা আছে যদি খিদিরপুরে স্টেশন বানানোর জায়গা পাওয়া যায়। 


এছাড়া আমি পশ্চিমবঙ্গ কোথাও কোনো মেট্রো দেখছিনা। কম করেও পরবর্তী ১০-২০ বছরের নতুন কোনো মেট্রো হচ্ছে না। 


পশ্চিমবঙ্গের সরকার খুব একটা মেট্রো এবং infrastructure বেপার তার স্বপক্ষ নয়। ভারতীয় রেল হোক বা KMRCL, সহযোগিতা করতে অক্ষম থেকে বেশিরভাগ প্রজেক্টসেই। 


তুলনার জন্যে বলেদেই, চেন্নাই মেট্রোর Phase 2 যেটা বর্তমানে 100km+ এর মত লাইন নির্মাণাধীনে আছে, সেটাতে 35% রাজ্য সরকারের funding করা।

ইদানিং আবার কেন্দ্র সরকার বারুইপুর মেট্রোর proposal টা cancel করে দিয়েছে এই বলে যে ওই মেট্রো লাইন টা নাকি যথেষ্ট যাত্রী পাবে না মেট্রোর লাভজনক হবার জন্য।
