It's a good place to be. The surroundings are really good, although there are better ones in the North-East as well. Academics are all okay, but it depends on what specific field you want to apply in and mostly it comes down to placement (core vs non-core/data sciences). The professors, I met, were all kind and respectful as people and while I gave them my fair share of trouble, they still maintained a cordial relationship. Of course as it comes down to every life situation, there are both good and bad aspects.
