My parents were members of UKD while in their early years of marriage in 90s. On one such occasion, my father was arrested and taken by the armed forces to the nearby forests (Nainital - Bhumiyadar); with orders to shoot at will. As fate would have it, my father and few of his friends could only escape while the rest were shot or heavily injured to an extent.

3 decades from then, my father,at times, regrets putting his life and family at risk - all just to get a free ISBT travel card and only if UKD could have been a self sustaining movement and regional party rather than limited to the national political gateway for many.

Nepal contributes more to Indian army then a certain self proclaimed nationalist state and these people teach us about deshprem and Nationalism.
