Throttle control , downshifts and learning how to scan the road are most important . Start with a small commuter bike as most Indian kids . I learned proper downshifts on my friends r3 before i had a proper bike . Before that i was learning on an honda shine 125. Since my shine had only kickstart , it helped a lot with my throttle control and clutch control as I didnt want the bike to turn off , the kickstart was such an hassle for a beginner .

I would choose a restaurant with a view, Orchard, in rajpur.. amazing view, amazing food.. they specialize in Chinese and thai cuisine mainly.. not sure about tandoori.. but this is not an all vegetarian restaurant. They serve both, veg and non veg.. for complete veg, go to haldiram on Mussoorie road.. or for south Indian, go to udupi or cafe bangalore on Mussoorie road itself

A few spots in Medavakkam:

1. Dine n Fun near Vijayanagaram bus stop. Some of the best biryani around these parts. Their tandoori/grill items are good too.

2. If you're going at night after 10pm, Auto Biryani is right next door to it.

3. If you're going on Sunday at noon, go to S.K Rahman Broilers near Medavakkam eri. They make only on Sunday. It's some of the best biryani here. Would be my first choice if it's a Sunday morning. Only downside is they don't give egg.

4. Last but not least, Jayachandran food court biryani (upstairs, not the stalls outside Jayachandran)

I find all these to be better than big restaurant types, at half the price.

First of all,if you want to ride a Harley, you should learn to manoeuver motorcycles with slightly forward set footpegs. Avenger therefore is the best choice as another member has also mentioned.
Otherwise* you can get yourself a naked motorcycle like an FZ or MT 15 or Duke 200 (I'm a bit biased towards Yamaha machinery due to my experience with both of these bikes) as these have a fairly neutrally set footpegs and a fairly approachable riding triangle.

PS: FZS FI V2 was my first bike. I learned riding on that very beauty!
