A lot of Indian parents think that they own their children. 'Iski shaadi karani hai' 'Isko engineer banana hai' 'Isko ye college mein daalna hai' etc. Somehow the concept that they are whole individual humans with their own brains eludes them because they themselves never had the luxury. They place their pride in their children which is a burden a lot of us bear. They have never really thought for themselves. Its very common to hear words like 'we allow our daughters to work' etc.

This is the curse most of us bear and cannot be undone without resistance but we (almost all) love our parents and can't see them sad even if we know that they are wrong.

Lesson: Decline in EPS, decline in share price.
