Well if a company gives dividends, thats means the cash they generate cannot be reinvested by them at higher rates and giving it back to the share holders is the best option for them.

Share prices in long run are not based on greater fools theory but revenue and eps increase but that magic only occurs if you pay a reasonable price for such stocks and dont but at crazy valuations.

There is a reasons they are giving dividends and the dividends as percentage of earning increases with time because or ageing and their life cycle.

So a high divide stock like coal india will have less return on stock prices ( just 20% in last 11 years) because stocks grow on reinvestment and reveneue,fcf,eps.
Some companies give 30% of fcf as dividends and keep the 70 percent snd reinvest it for growth, as growth slows the percentage changes


Stocks in young stage of corporate life cycle dont give dividends because they have so many opportunities to reinvest, generate more profits and fcf but i latter stage of corporate cycle the runway reduces and reinvestment returns are not healthy.
