I had a similar experience couple of years ago. Not sure if I should share it here. But anyways. . .

The electricity bill was automatically paid online. But all of a sudden a few guys (without giving any prior notice) cut the wires and went off.
We had no idea why did they do this.
I submitted a written complaint at the nearest MSEDCL office, and they said that it was some misunderstanding and they would connect the wires by the end of the day.

By the end of the day (around 8pm) two men came by and informed us that they're connecting the wires.

We had a few guests at our home, so I was very upset. One of those guys, in a very sarcastic way, told me that if you don't pay the bill on time, we would come back next month as well. I told them that it was some kind of mistake on your end, and the bill was already paid(even before the physical bill arrived at home)

However, that arrogant dog started shouting and kept claiming that it was because we didn't pay the bill on time. ..

I said nothing...simply took out my mobile phone and started making a video, and told them that if you still feel that we haven't paid our bill and that was the reason you guys cut the wires... don't connect it back.

By then, our neighbours had gathered all around. He asked the other person to snatch the phone from me.
(btw, I had asked the MSEDCL official to sign on the written complaint that I submitted, and had also clicked a picture of that signed complaint)

I didn't give them my phone ofcourse....and simply said that we would see you guys in the court... Don't connect the wires, and we'll definitely file a case with the consumer forum.

I also had the contact number of the head of the MSEDCL office where I had submitted the complaint.
I called him immediately, and he recognised us because it was their mistake and they didn't want us to escalate the issue.

In front of all our neighbours and guests, I put the phone on loudspeaker and let him speak to them. The officer shouted at them and asked them to connect the wires immediately and leave.

After the call, that arrogant dog (who was by then like a scared cat) immediately connected the wires, and later requested me if I could delete the video I recorded.

I calmly said NO, and they left.

How was Galouti kebab? Never had one, but heard the name a lot.

So sad you had to go through all this. Is there a way to submit a complaint for inflated bills like this?
There are so many wilful defaulters including some government offices and official residences of ministers. But all they want to do is disconnect a common man’s electricity supply with no fault of their.
