Being in SEO for nearly 20 years, this is what I would do.

Check online for reviews and testimonials.

Ask them questions such as:

Show me live demonstrations of SEO campaigns you’re running for current clients. What have you done for them and what have been the results.

Give me an example of a SEO campaign that didn’t run well and why. Every marketer is not perfect. You want to see what they say.

Why our my competitors X Y and Z at the top of search results and what are they doing SEOwise.

What would be the plan of action for my niche and breakdown what you would do.

How do you build backlinks. Give me an example of backlinks you have built, and how.

Ask them who would be my contact. If it’s the sales guy, I would run. Ideally, you want to work directly with the person doing the work and not project managers that sell an unrealistic dream.

From asking the above questions, you should hopefully find a reputable company that will be a good fit.

A good SEO agency will be transparent and educate you in SEO, so you understand everything. They won’t hide anything.

Don’t rush the search process. With the right SEO agency, you should hopefully be working with them for many years as they’re getting you results.

Classic emotional blackmail. How is the boy's family adjusting to the fact? Are they accepting you? If yes, then you can get over your mom's disappointment. My 1st cousin sister(her dad is Muslim, mom is hindu like us) married a Tamil Christian guy 7 years ago. It was a huge scandal in our family and his too but eventually everyone gave into her decision. They have a lovely 4 year daughter that we all adore. Sure there was huge cultural challenges, us being hindu bengali and my brother in law being Tamil Christian. But time heals.
