Follow the reinstall instructions again. Boot into recovery by holding Command+R, connect to the internet, format the disk with disk utility and then proceed with install. The installer stalling last time could have just been a macOS issue, but you can also open up the installer log while it’s downloading and installing macOS to check on the progress. The installer log is one of the options in the menu bar iirc.

Kind of always, kind of never. Even when I started grade school, I was never with the other kids in any way, I was never remotely one of them. But I just felt like "these kids are really horrible" so it was like, I was in a really bad situation, which sucked and hopefully wouldn't last much longer. But of course it's lasted my whole life. In each situation I'd find myself in, generally everything was unbearable, and my very strong gut feeling processed it as "gad these people are really horrible, I urgently need to get away from here". Nothing's really changed - I still feel this way about most people, especially if they're in a group. And I'm almost dead now, it's almost over, so there's no change forthcoming. But I like my brain, I like myself, and I've never lost the feeling that there's some theoretical type of person/people where if they were the one(s) around I'd largely be okay. And at this point I don't even care all that much that they don't exist (or are so rare that they might as well not) - I keep to myself most of the time, engage with my brain myself (thinking about things, learning things, doing things) and I think that's approximately optimal for me. Humanity was always unfathomable and beyond disturbing to me: there was never any moment of "oh, yeah, okay, there's something I didn't realize before but now I see it."
