According to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the incident occurred 200 yards inside India near Pillar 1261 in Damdamiya. Locals revealed that Sobuj, a resident of Pahartali village, was involved in smuggling cows and had entered Indian territory with others when a conflict arose, leading to an Indian Khasi citizen firing a pellet gun that killed him. Sobuj’s body was later recovered in Bangladesh by his family, who alerted the BGB and police. Lt Col Md Hafizur Rahman, Commander of BGB-48 Battalion, stated that a formal protest has been lodged demanding justice. This marks the second such incident in 24 hours, following the death of teenager Maruf Ahmed in a similar shooting by Khasi people in Jaintapur Upazila on Thursday.
