Manorama - Has been aligned with Congress since inception. The unofficial mouthpiece which is regarded as an official mouthpiece for all intents and purposes. (The official mouthpiece is a channel called Jaihind TV).

Mathrubhumi - it has a socialist history and is run by MV Shreyams Kumar who heads a Janata party (now RJD) and is nominally with the LDF but the paper takes random positions depending on the management and editorial's mood. Since the relationship between this Janata faction and CPM has not been good since MP Veerendra Kumar passed away right now Mathrubhumi can be considered to be anti government by and large.

Media One - it is owned or at least controlled by Jamaat-e-Islami but they have a very opaque shareholding structure. In any case their editorial positions are always dictated by the Jamaat and allied forces so on all matters in which they have an interest Media One takes that position and when Jamaat doesn't care Media One takes a kind of leftist position because many of the journalists belong to a kind of JNU type leftism.

Asianet - the big daddy of Malayalam news. It is owned by Rajeev Chandrashekhar who is of course a BJP politician but strangely they are not super influenced by BJP and instead they adopt a position of hating everyone, especially whoever is the incumbent. So when LDF is in power they are anti LDF and when UDF is in power they are anti UDF. In a way they reflect the perennial anti incumbent mood of the average Malayali. They actually also are quite negative to BJP and kind of treat them like also-rans and nobodies (which is to an extent true in Kerala). They promoted their owner heavily when he ran for election from TVM.

Kairali - Official mouthpiece of CPI(M). What Manorama does for Congress, Kairali does for CPM.

24 News - It doesn't have any consistent politics. Kind of following the Asianet route I would say. It is owned by a bunch of NRI businessmen and Gokulam Gopalan I think. They are the ones who have gone the farthest in trying to present news as a kind of entertainment. Everyone chases TRP but these guys are among the hungriest.

Reporter - Again their politics is all over the place, quite intentionally. I have observed that their editorial panel basically has people who advocate positions of all parties. For eg. Sujaya supports BJP, Smruthy supports Congress, Motta Arun nominally supports LDF (Nikesh was the main CPM guy when he was working there and after he left Arun has taken the role), Unni Balanchandran's main role appears to be to hate on BJP etc. Something for everyone. Channel is owned by the augustine brothers family who are capitalist sharks (not meant as a negative).

Janam - not a mainstream channel but obviously a BJP-RSS vehicle.

News18 - it's owned by Ambani and generally does not do too much anti BJP stuff. The rest of its editorial positions are mathematics.

Disclaimer: I fucking hate Malayalam TV news and these are just my observations from hate watching for the most part

While I will call is facelift at best, I will give it 1 thing, it looks clean, less wire mess and such, still lacks alot to call it upgrade.

The thing about Sarfarosh is, it's research started in 1992. It really is a perfect film because of the thought and ideas went behind making the perfect screenplay.

JMM has two more films in his credit as a director, and another one as a writer. All three are more or less badly reviewed. Maybe he realized he just didn't have it in him anymore and stopped trying, which is lot more than you can say about most working filmmakers today.

But hey, that's just a theory. A film theory.
