I'm an atheist through and through. Never felt the need to want or be upset with god or religion. But when my grandmother died and the priest told us that the sooner we move on from our grief, the better her next life as a fetus and a baby would be, it helped. I found myself seeking a sense that she lived on. It quickly wore off as life went on but that life-changing feeling did push me to look for ways to believe what was happening wasn't real.
