Their own women or the women they abducted and kept for themselves were kept under covers of burqa niqab etc. So they never targeted women wearing niqab and burqa because of religion. Hindu women didn't don the burqa as it would signal religious subversion, but they did hide the faces of Hindu women in order to protect vulnerable ones from being taken away by those invaders or their relatives/descendants, co-religionists. All women had to be veiled because if you hide just the young ones and the old ones show face then the veiled ones will obv be targeted.
