I agree with a comment suggesting that it’s just parents looking for unique or modern sounding names. It’s also happening in Maharashtra. Every other kid is named Ayaan, Ridhaan, etc.

We don’t see typical Maharashtrian names like Ajinkya, Tejas, Tanmay as much nowadays.

A generation back we stopped naming kids Maari, Durai, etc. because they sounded too rural and parents avoided them. This is completely organic and will happen.
