The problem feels like it was a sudden news for both of your parents and there's generational gap. If the news was delivered to them gradually over time, maybe they wouldn't oppose the whole idea so strongly.

If you both really want to make it work, gradually try and gain your parents and each other's parents trust. You're both your parents babies so they'll be protective of you, they're coming from a place of concern so try and reason with them at their level.
