I will tell you what and this is from my experience of working at an NGO (not gonna name it here). First and foremost the comment to the post is absolutely trash, that persons knowledge comes from stupid alpha male stuff going around online.

Now, why don't they speak up. Infact why don't people across the globe especially children do not speak up of the crimes committed against them? One of the major reason is that to speak up the person has to think and re-live to a certain extent in order to talk about it, this leads to a strong feeling of shame and guilt. Also, for such incidents there is a lot of fear for judgement, blame and that people might just not believe.

Due to this many even try to pretend that nothing like that happened and try to forget the incident. Our society is not welcoming of the survivors and instead tries to hush all the bad things that go around and try to victim blame. Also, with internet it is very easy to leak a persons information. This fear also exists that someone might leak their personal info and that might lead to more and more hateful comments.

We do have laws which try to punish these offenders and bring justice to the victim, but the real change has to happen at the ground level, within the society.
