People who are obsessed with the car either don’t really know the problems and the issues with it and have probably only driven it or have never driven a VW/Skoda 2.0TDI.

It was not reliable, it never even sold well.

According to the US consumer reports, the Cruze had the lowest reliability score amongst compact Sedans for 2011.

The engine had injector issues and they were a pain to get done and expensive as the intake shroud blocks it.

It also had BCM failures which were common and caused catastrophic electronic failure including the bootlid not closing and opening mid-drive as it is electrically operated.

A friend’s dad had the car, he had to spend 95k back then because of a failed drive shaft. This was a common failure it seems as 3 other cars were in the ASC for the same issue.
He told me his Mercedes C class diesel was cheaper and easier to maintain than the Cruze.
