  6. Thoughts???

    5 months
I know this is a controversial opinion. I kind of appreciate the tiered and anti-import taxation on cars. Just think of it for a second.

    1. The tiered taxation penalizes people wanting bigger cars more. Affordable cars have low GST and fancier ones have way more. And in India less than 10% own cars and if you remove the cheaper altos, wagonr and the likes I bet the number would be around 2-3%. So doesn't that mean all this high tax is only for the top 2-3%?

    2. Traffic scene would be disaster if bigger cars become cheaper and everybody drives a xuv700 instead of xuv300.

    3. Hyundai, Suzuki, VAG would have never setup manufacturing if not due to the import penalty! Almost 98% of cars sold in India is assembled in India. Think of how many jobs it created. The whole industry wouldn't even exist if not for import taxes. Indian auto industry would have faced same scene as Indian smartphone industry. We would all be driving cheap ass Chinese copy cats.

It feels stingy when you see those numbers. But again you are part of top 2-3% to be actually able to afford it.

Just the way bangalore became what it is.

  16. Parents compelled me to join Merchant Navy after class 12, now I aspire to go abroad? A'm I making a wrong life decision ? Is it too late ?

    5 months
What do you intend to do after going abroad? Study? Work?

If your intention is to study and then settle down with a job at that place, then things don't seem to be quite ideal for it at this point of time. Europe is in a never recovering recession, US with Trump who knows how that's going to turn out, Canada is pretty much a no-go zone, Australian immigration policy is getting quite challenging as well.

If it is to work, then you have a pretty good skill set in marine engineering, you may need to gain some more experience though. The key is to build connections, that would help you to gain some foothold in a country that would like to eventually move to. LinkedIn is a good space for that and then the connections you make in your job would be the next avenue
