You know, I have fond memories of older OSes, but every time I have to go back and use one, my reaction is, "Holy shit this is clunky AF, how the hell did I think this was smooth and efficient?"

I suspect if you went back and actually used OS9 (which was my first Mac OS) you'd be stunned at how not-as-good-as-you-remember it is.

There are moments when the OS definitely takes little steps backwards in some areas, and everybody notices because this thing that used to be simple is now not working. But when there's a similarly-sized little improvement, nobody notices, nobody comments, they just use it and forget that it wasn't always that way. And there are a lot more of the latter.

Fast food wagie here. I think that most of the time, the work itself isn’t too bad, even when it’s pretty bad. Most of the time people anguish over the other aspects of their job, like dealing with shitty people, long commutes, health issues, etc. I got a job that’s literally a 5 minute walk from my house and my coworkers and bosses are mostly nice. It makes an enormous difference to how you feel about going to work. I can actually go home after working and enjoy myself because I didn’t sap all my remaining time and energy driving through rush hour traffic.

If you have to work, you might want to consider looking for jobs at a more convenient location. Forget company loyalty. It’s a cutthroat world, job hopping is savvy.
