If you are a lucky one then it will take min 1.5 years of prep and the cycle is about 1 year also ...but if you fail incessantly Then it can take you 4 5 years easily in a blink . upsc exam is a kind of addiction , even if you leave the prep Upsc doesnt leave your mind .
If we talk about the difficulty level - it is indeed difficult and luck plays a good role in it . Prelims come with a shock every year but if you are good at handling pressure and well versed with the static and know about important CA of at least 1.5 years there is a good chance you can clear but yeah it is easier said than .
