This is sad. I've received several hundred dollars in compensation from CFP over the years from various schemes banks have pulled on me.

In one case a rep from Chase credit card services called me and asked, with a thick accent, "Do you feel your credit card security is safe?". I said yeah, and then they said a bunch of stuff very quickly I couldn't understand. I finally said I had to go and hung up. Turned out I agreed to have "upgraded" security which just meant a hidden charge on my card once a month for years. It was a known scam. CFP shut it down and gave me back my money.

I now only have one card and it's through a local credit union (with much better interest!). Never using the big banks again, especially now.

I've seen floated the idea to do away with FDIC. Not even paid for by the govt. I don't even know how to protect against that.

Completely Agreed, I gave my old phone to my mom and she does the exact same thing you said. she also shares those religious content in whatsapp to me. One side happy that she doesn't watch CwC, bigboss and serials. But these are getting out of hand. Algorithm got her, she watches only shorts.

My approach: 1) hide the original youtube app and gave different one that doesnt have shorts(still it has those saree retailers video for 15 mins)even tried youtube kids to allow only certain channels but it is even bad, it shows only child content with vibrant colour etc.

2) forcing her to use TV as much as possible as it doesn't have shorts(sumart tube) and shows mostly shows old movies. she asks alexa "play mouna ragam in youtibe". voice remote really helps.


3) best achievement was I made her watch the family man in prime(we started two episodes together,then she completed first in a week). making consuming good OTT movies.
