I mean tbh it depends on what you want the translation for. I’m always an advocate of starting as unbiased as possible — meaning, start with the most clean translation you can get without commentary. The scholarly translation my professors and I use in our work is “The Bhagavad Gita in the Mahabharata” by Van Buitenen. It’s not perfect by any means but honestly it’s a pretty solid academic work and (for me at least, leagues beyond the ISKCON translation.)

Read through it and really think about the things you might be confused by or don’t really understand. Then go ahead and read a commentary — there are tons of great commentaries on both sectarian lines (like Acharya Abhinvagupta’s commentary from a Trika Shaiva perspective) or if you’re feeling more drawn to Sri Vaishnava theology, Ramanujacharya also has a bhashya). Along more syncretic, modern day understanding of Hindu lines, try some of the other commentaries from the Vedanta Society or Swami Chinmayananda’s organization. Swami Muktananda’s online version is also quite nice and I’m a fan of how generally accepting he tends to be

Now if you’re not really concerned with the finer points of theology, philosophy, and translation and prefer something super easy to read, then Amit Majumdar has a translated, rather heavily stylized version of the Gita called “Godsong” that is nonetheless a quick, easy, and altogether entertaining read.
