Just wanted to share this. Yesterday was saraswati puja in my country.

You see it depends on a few factors. 1: Isolation, Just like the Himalayas, Rajasthan also is a bit sparsely populated, making it another hotspot for Yogis.

2: Historical Security (idk if this should be here, but its just my opinion), Rajasthan for most of its history was ruled by powerful Rajput kings who helped turn the place into a sort of safe haven for Hindus, so Yogis often flocked to the place.

3. Not all of it is desert even though alot of it is isolated, The desert region actually only lies in the western districts, the north is just like the northern plains, the south and South South west and South east is rocky and semi-arid, with cliffs and rocks and occasional waterfalls aswell. So Yogis have a wide range of choices, all of these environments are idealy preferable for a Yogi.

4. The people, they may be seen as very...very devoted and supersticious, most Yogis don't care about it. But in the end it means that they can usually mind their own business.


(All of the above points are from my perspective and from what a Rajasthani local thinks about the place, reasons can vary from person to person)
