The current plan to extend the Eastern Freeway by blocking the road from Majiwada to Kopri isn’t ideal. Instead, the freeway should have been routed from the backside, above the Saket-Kalwa road, up to Anand Nagar.

Thane has always been a major choke point for vehicles entering Mumbai from Bhiwandi. With the Samruddhi Mahamarg, the Mumbai-Nashik Highway will become the shortest route to Mumbai—whether via Eastern Express Highway, JVLR, or Ghodbunder Road. This means traffic from the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and Samruddhi Mahamarg will flood Thane unless there’s an elevated bypass.

The Proposed Bypass Route:
- This elevated road would allow traffic to bypass Thane entirely, extending from Amane to Anand Nagar.
- At Anand Nagar, vehicles could merge directly onto the Eastern Freeway Extension via an entry ramp.

Time Savings:
- Current route: Delhi-Mumbai Expressway/Samruddhi Mahamarg to CSMT takes 2 hours 10 minutes.
- With this bypass:
- Amane to Kharegaon Toll: 40 minutes
- Saket-Anand Nagar Freeway: 15 minutes
- Eastern Freeway Extension to CSMT: 30 minutes
- Total time: 1 hour 25-40 minutes (saving 30-45 minutes).
- During peak hours, when EEH is gridlocked, the time savings would be even greater.
