There is a book by Malcolm Gladwell that explains mob behaviour. I feel more an incident get highlighted more it either inspire it’s occurrence or highlighting of such occurrences.

In a longer run the impact gets diluted and things go back to normalcy.

Something helpful could be setting one goal per week (eg. Instead of having 1 goal for each day, your goal is to do 7 things in a week. If you reach 5 things, that’s still a great result).

Besides, this can be easily adjustable and you can learn fast from failure - a flexible approach is key, otherwise you’ll burn out.
