It was game 14, there was fatigue and Ding was dead intent on making a draw to take it to rapid/blitz. Gukesh all through the match showed intent to get a result in classical games. He kept pushing in a dead draw position. He won because of that.

How is this win less credible than intentionally playing draws in classical format and then to win in rapid, to get crowned champion in the classical format?

Also, to people saying that Gukesh didn't beat the best player to become WCC, what was he supposed to do?

He fairly beat every other strong player in the Candidates and played the World champion. It's not his responsibility to ensure that Magnus plays.

Also, nobody cares how he did, he is a WCC. Just like Karpov won his first Title, he won when Fischer forfeited the game. I don't see anyone calling Karpov not a real champion.
