Manageable number of stocks
There is no fixed answer. It totally depends on the size of your portfolio imo. If you're investing in crores then I would suggest a portfolio of at least 25 - 30 stocks otherwise you can invest in around 10-15 stocks. I personally never invest more than 10% of my capital on a single stock no matter how bright future potential a company holds. As a retail shareholder I have the least amount of information about the company's operations and management so aim for good diversification.
If you're investing 1 lac or less than avoid more than 10 stocks. Instead opt for a low cost Index Fund or ETF instead. If you're planning to invest more than a lac go for direct stocks. -
How does the IPO allotment actually work? If it’s a simple lottery then why are people asking to try through different broker, asba/upi, PAN etc. Allocation must be basis pure luck right?
Applying through different broker doesn’t work. But applying through different PAN increases your chances of allocation -
What would it take Congress to get rid of the Gandhi siblings in the leadership and have some common sense patriot as their face?
Gandhis will never allow it,they think it’s their birthright to rule India like a monarch. Also their real surname is not even Gandhi ,they just took it to fool gullible public as if they are related to Mohandas Gandhi . -
MF to invest in long term
trust me on this advice ...
use that 1L...invest on yourself ...(learn something, buy someone's time or anything that appreciates your own value in a shorter time frame)
it's better to start earning, and create a solid income foundation instead of investing in a mutual fund ... once your cash flow gets good ...invest big amounts in mutual funds ....
and if you say i don't know how to invest money on myself ... think in terms of ..what could you do to start earning 40-50k per month part time as a student in next 6-10 months ... looking for those answers will give you the right path to start with -
A lovely device installed at MCG where you can take a selfie with Australian players. Will we ever get to experience this in Indian stadium ?
Even if bcci tries to do these things, some one will try to steal the equipment lights, cables or we can see gutka marks on the machinery, our crowd doesn't deserve these things at all.... -

Aus fan from r/all here. I've always dreamed of watching test cricket live in India. Response from Indian friends is always the same "idc how brave you think you are, please don't do it to yourself".
Let's hope for a bearable fan experience at some point during our lifetimes. -

Trump and his allies say the GOP is the party of free speech. Their actions say otherwise. For them, free speech means they get to shout the loudest and silence everyone who disagrees with them.
Free speech has always been a big Republican lie. As a clever alternative to banning speech (although they still do that anyway but I'm just going to focus this comment on money=speech), Republicans have invented the notion that money=speech and elevated it to a Constitutional right in direct defiance of the words of the First Amendment.
Money=speech means that the more money you have, the more you get to spam *and censor* the speech of everyone else to your own tastes. Flood the zone with your money and organic speech suffers. And who can afford to do this? The wealthiest economic class. -
I'm traumatized
Police in Mumbai respond well to crimes against women. Go to the police station and at least inform them if not register a complaint. They will help you find and punish the man if they can. Or they will be vigilant on the route. The man is likely to be around the same stations if he feels he gets away with it. -

Yes. If you go to PTA, you can see that everyone is filthy rich but don't spend money in PTA. -
