Yes you could. But some hotels have weird policies about outside food, so I would suggest you either ask at frontdesk, or just take the order yourself at the gate, if possible. 9/10 hotels usually have no issues, but there are always some with idiotic policies.

Hi, north Indian here. Just leave all your prejudices aside and you will have a great time here. Chennai people are some of the sweetest I have come across in India. No problem on that front. Nobody will bug you for not knowing Tamil, just know some everyday basics. Commute is a breeze here with great public transport connecting all corners of the city. I personally travel only by bus and metro, you can install chalo app for the buses if you feel comfortable with it.
You might face some issues with the weather later on in the year but currently you have come at a good time.
Do tell what area you are moving to, might give you some additional points.

Edit: boy oh boy, so I read your post in the Developers Indian sub, at your current salary you can live like a king in Chennai. This city is extremely affordable.

I had good relations with few cousins growing up but after their -our mindsets started changing we drifted, I never really considered it that important because my relatives are mostly toxic.
