This is not the norm. This is an aberration and a gross violation of rules of the institution. Aggrieved students should register a complaint immediately with the management of the institute.

I once while praying/meditating started a fight with Mahavatar Babaji, as to why he seems to be training and guiding everyone I see on youtube but he seems to ignore genuine sadhakas. I think all I could visualise was his laughter, seemingly as if he rarely appeared to people.
