A few things I liked about PK so far:

It is a myth that only hedge fund managers and large institutional investors use options to reduce risk. Many individuals use them as well but yes the overall percentage is quite low because options are very complex. I will try to explain this in 5 points:

**1 Strategy-Based Usage**: The use of options depends on your strategy. For example, if you believe the market might be correct but still want to stay invested, you can allocate 2-4% of your position to buying PUT options.

**2 Allocation Over Time**: Options have varying expiries. You can buy 3-month expiry options and invest approximately 1.25% each quarter, making your overall yearly cost around 4%. Alternatively, you can buy a one-year expiry Nifty Index PUT option and invest 4% of your portfolio in a single instance.

**3** **Liquidity in Stock vs. Index Options**: Stock options generally have liquidity only for one or two-month expiries. However, in the case of Nifty Index options, liquidity is available even for one-year expires.

**4** **Percentage Allocation and Risk**: The percentage of your portfolio allocated to PUT options depends on your strategy. A higher percentage increases the risk of losing money if the market does not decline.

**5** **Timing and Cost Dynamics**: There are two approaches to buying PUT options.

**Proactive Buying**: This involves purchasing options when volatility is low and prices are cheaper, though the chances of a market decline may also be lower.
**Reactive Buying**: This involves purchasing PUTs after negative news or a support level is broken. While this increases the cost due to higher volatility, it also improves the likelihood of a market decline.

Now you make money or not depends upon how correct you are for example if you buy 5% OTM puts and the market falls by 20%. Returns will increase significantly and your portfolio will outperform all the Index funds by a wide margin. If the market does not fall your returns will fall by the amount you invested.

I tried, but there are still many points left, such as whether to invest in OTM, ATM, or ITM options. In fact, there are thousands of strategies, and I’ve only tried to explain one. Even then, I’ve covered only 20% of it.
