The idea of creation. Please understand it will be hard for some people to grasp.

Brahman , paramatma , the one who is distant from the Universe and universe at the same time who don't have any Gunas (attribute /quality) who exist and non-exist at the same time . From him came the three gunas
1) Rajas in the form of creating Guna(quality) in prakriti (matter) created the dimensions of universe being a thing excess having rajas create .
2) when rajas transform to satwa(Guna) universe stabilised and equilibrium spread. This satwa is on the base of the universe where individual part still transformed itself from Rajas and thamas . Making universe chaotic in micro and in equilibrium when look at macro
3) when this satwa transform itself to thamas(Guna) understand that universe will start to dissolve. And at The end this thamas a quality , this Guna will become nirguna , or without quality

"Then, there was neither non-existence (asat) nor existence (sat);
There was no realm of air, no sky beyond it.
What covered it? Where was it? In whose protection?
Was there water, deep and unfathomable?" -rigveda (10.129.1)

"In the beginning, this (universe) was non-existent (asat). From that indeed, existence (sat) was born."

Maha Vishnu as per vishanvism [brahman] was in yogic sleeping [shows existing and non existing , aware and not aware] for infinite time [it is hard to grasp when you say time don't exist] on Ananda snake [ananda : infinite , snake ? ] When suddenly a lotus bloom from his navel [symbol of creation of satwa from Brahman] from that lotus born brahma (don't confuse with brahman) [brahma represent thamasic form] . Brahma is unaware why he exist for long time , he think and think untill he understands the purpose of his birth [shows universe exist in raw form , rajas in for a long time. Brahma = rajas] when brahma understand the purpose he created the prajapati [rajas started creation , early creation of material basics] prajapati and brahma conducted a yaga in which a golden egg came out also called as hiranya garba [first transformations of rajas to satwa , garbodaksaya vishnu : satwa ] the hirany garba floated in vastness for a long time [satwa Guna exist for a long time unchanged and unaffected] suddenly grabodhaksaya vishnu came out of hiranya garba [satwa started stabilizing early creation] brahma started creation of universe and it's elements [rajas started creation of universal matter where satwa along with rajas stabilized it.] Kserodaksaya vishnu protected the universe from bottom [shows satwa working in macro level for overall equilibrium]

This story is symbolic. Like every other story like shiva getting curse and vishnu getting curse
And it is mythical and philosophical.

A lot of hindus believe there exist in sky a god with 4 head (represent 4 vedas] with 4 hands (represent science , creation , purity and beauty) exist in real life .
