Your best bet would be to sit down with them, get them to run you through the approach they say they would take and get them to explain those things in detail to you. Take notes and try validate this with other technical people.

Over and above this if you're both grads, then the other thing you need to realise is that your CTO is probably going to get this wrong based solely on experience. I was always very good technically and been programming since single digits, aced things like maths and computers in high school and university and yet you learn very quickly when you start working that you don't know much and the real world works very differently. Not saying things will be a disaster for you but it's worthwhile to realise you guys are most likely very green in the space and are best to find experienced mentors to validate your approaches with.
