A sales person would definitely pitch parents a pro racquet. If the guy can afford it, then why not. If it's solely based on fear or the person has compromised his savings then it ain't worth it.

For starters, I do not believe you need a 16k racquet. Like all games, tennis is also based on thin margin of errors. If you see yourself lagging because your racquet needs an upgrade, then do it. Sports start with muscle memory training and then games occasionally and then tournaments and then pedantic analysis of such errors and aspects of the game. So it's a long road to actually needing a 16k racquet.

I believe that players should start with basic equipment at least for practice to realize the need of high end stuff.

People are two faced,
I'll share a story which I heard from a vis-a-vis connect.
There was a dog who used to chase and bite everyone around, and whenever someone used to do anything, the animal loving family used to come for its protection, when one person came too close to get bitten(again), and he decided to teach this family a lesson.

Now he used to hop on his car and chase this dog like crazy, whenever the dog was sleeping he used to scare the dog,
Soon the dog bit someone from the animal loving family, and the family then poisoned the dog.
Now, nobody wanted the dog dead, just relocated or something , but this animal loving family itself killed it and deteriorated their relation with every one in the neighborhood.
