    It sounds okay. Normal births have 3-4% risk of congenital defects, first cousins have double the risk at 6-8%. They aren't first cousins so risks are in the middle and only slightly higher than unrelated births to not matter as such.

    Proper prenatal care can find many such risks and inform very early in the pregnancy. Science doesn't say no, but of course the social aspect can be tough to overcome.

    It is generational interbreeding which causes the worst of birth related issues. Normal families otherwise have enough genetic diversity.
