The diversity in Hindi films has actually gone up in Bollywood in 2020s. **In my opinion the problem is not range but it is too much range which results in a much smaller number of movies in the specific genres that people like and also the lower quality of a fewer number of movies in the preferred standard genres.** OTT also makes the number of movies visible to people because of comparatively lower publicity of a lot of content focused diverse movies.

The quality of big budget commercial movies that are the focus of the box office has gone down over time but just focusing on these 15-20 mainstream action and horror comedy movies that are in the news at the box office is not a complete representation of the 125 Bollywood movies that are released in a year in terms of range and diversity. One has to take into account the 50-60 OTT releases that are not released in theaters to account for diversity.

Lets look at the genres and subgenres in which movies were released in 2024:

Now look at the number of originals vs remakes in the above movies and you will see that remakes are less than 10% of the overall movies this year which is actually much lesser than the standard 10-15% remakes across most film industries across the globe. Bollywood usually makes 10-20% remakes like most other industries.
