There are times and places in this world where free work is an appropriate expectation. Volunteer organizations for one. Call me old-school, but I'm a big believer in the value of educational internships and low-paying entry-level jobs with high learning/experience value too (though there's potential for exploitation and lack of inclusion here). For more seasoned professionals in a for-profit context, it can be appropriate to work on something like a deal to acquire a company "on spec", with the idea that putting a deal together would bring investors to the table and everyone would get paid if it worked. Real estate development largely operates like this too.

In a very limited set of circumstances, it might make sense to do this in a startup. If you were working with someone who was very fundable as a non-technical founder, and they were looking for a technical co-founder, with you both doing some primitive/mvp type of work hoping to raise angel funding for example. The tautology here is that most people like this have had enough success to either raise pre-seed money without having to do too much work first, or can just fund early operations out of their own bankroll.

There's also a case for doing this in partnership with some less seasoned folks. Definitely riskier, and therefore should come with a much clearer expectation of a founder-level role and equity allocation. If this is not on the table, they're just exploiting you for free work.

Here's what I did when I travelled to Canada. Purchased thermals from normal shops. Little warmer hoodies and sweaters from Decathlon. Also layers of gloves, beanies and winter socks again from Decathlon.
Rest all I purchased in Canada.
Just for Context, Under Armour I saw a jacket for 13k in India but was not satisfied. I purchased 1 in Canada and not so big brand. Came for less than 6k and super warm when compared to Under Armour.

Not a Marathi person but my experience says that Marathi people are good, practical and tolerate no nonsense.

Trying to find some special meaning seems like too much work. For me, life is about doing the things I enjoy, like reading interesting books, watching entertaining films/series, playing fun games, and going for relaxing walks with the dog—all while doing everything I can to minimise stress and pressure as our time here is very short.

In the end, does it really matter that we won’t be remembered, since we won’t be around to care.

Did you know that there have been successful companies that didn't go thru YC? Also, did you know that the majority of YC graduates don't go in to do anything meaningful with their companies? I don't say that to discount that goal but it's not the be all for your company. If it happens think of it as gravy.
