You need to get creative with the your research and exhaust multiple tools/methods to uncover and latch onto any potential keywords that could drive their business. For example, if “landscaper timbuktu “ shows zero volume, check just landscaper on a local level. Check gardener, lawn care, hardscaping, excavators, brick laying, yard contractors, etc. (rough random examples but just try to guess all the phrases people could be using in their search). Or use national data to extrapolate locally. Don’t forget about google keyword planner and google trends. Brainstorm keywords with an LLM like ChatGPT. check competitor rankings / traffic data (a big one). A good way to leverage competitor data is to “guess” their keyword, search it, then scan the keywords of the top-ranked page. Explore ranking info intent content that funnels to conversions. I.e. say your customer sells a proprietary lawn widget that people don’t know about yet. Write / rank “10 best lawn ideas” and suggest your product. You could also “guess” the keywords and see what GSC / GA picks up. If no one searches it then presumably it will be super simple to rank quickly.. maybe the tools just aren’t picking up the volume because it’s very little... but at the end of the day, some things people just aren’t searching for. No searches = no SEO opportunity. I’ve turned down several prospective customers for this reason.

Edit: I overlooked that you shared the niche already. Guaranteed there’s opportunity. For additional opportunity, check all sub services - deck builders. Plumbers. Bedroom decorators. Etc.

It’ll become a startup if you continuously grow your community and make more happy users. For now, since you already have good community engagement, listen to your early adopters and implement their feedbacks to grow the product further.

I think the product itself is not novel enough to be its own company yet, but you are still very early on and you have good momentum so you should focus on growing. One area is focus on students like yourself, don’t try to focus on recruiters and ads because they are too complicated at the beginning.
