Why do people want kids when they can't afford a good quality of life?
Because people.... want kids?
There's of course the societal pressure and conditioning that plays a role in people wanting kids. However, I reckon there's also a deep biological urge to procreate (not just have sex, but procreate) for some/most heterosexual people.
With respect to quality of life, can we really set an objective benchmark? I know I'm in the minority when I say this, but there has never been a better time to be human than right now. Not 10 or 50 or 100 or 1000 years ago, but right now. Moreover, it's only going to improve on the whole, even with existential challenges like climate change.
Besides, if primitive humans had waited for quality of life to improve before having kids, we'd have been extinct before the stone age itself. The fact is that for poor people, having more children is an asset rather than a liability. After about 5-7 years of raising them with minimal expenses, they can be a source of employment (like working in the field or family trade) in the short term and a form of social security in the long term (after the parents have gotten old, they'd still be poor but their children would take care of them).
At a certain point in the income distribution, once people are in the lower middle to middle income strata, the children start to become a liability than an asset that have to be educated and cared for till they're \~21 years old. This is when fertility rates start to drop as the wife is more educated and financially independent. As more and more people move from being poor to being middle-class, they have less kids. However, that doesn't mean they won't have any kids, which is what's happening right now. Middle and upper middle class people have one child; two has become the exception now.
Once you get above the upper-middle income range, you'd have accumulated a helluva lot wealth that you'd prefer passing it down to your children than throwing it away on charity. Case in point – Ambani has 3, Elon musk has 13. -

Will drop in the US market affect already down Indian markets?
US markets have been doing well last month, this is like a minor drop there. In fact I wouldn't even consider it as a drop.
Indian market is currently operating decoupled, if it falls it was meant to fall 🤣
