Dealing with brokers in Delhi who want to leech off of you is so draining. On top of that, the landlords and landladies themselves come up with whatever to take more than the agreed amount in the contract. After dealing with so many brokers last year (many shady), we finally found a place we agreed on. We asked them to fix the loose toilet seats, old fans and slow flush. They said yes but didn't. And after we moved in, asked us to pay for half the repair. And this year they came up with the cleaning of the gutter for which apparently we "owe" them 5k+ even though they told us we had to pay 1k for it a few months into moving (which we still felt that should have been informed to us before the contract, but we felt 1k was not worth the tension) Sorry my comment may seem abit unrelated, but that's my experience being in Delhi sofar with regards to finding rent. It's such a headache. Someone or the other is trying to scam you. I've lost all trust on people and it gives me anxiety everyday to go out and face the world.

Everyone is far more practical than one thinks. So stop finding friends, good chances that you'll have, say, not good memories.
