Generally, every nation has political divide. Left wing, right wing, centrist, communist, capitalist etc.

This exist in India as well, but beneath this globally acknowledged divide India also has cultural and language divide.

Top 2 cultures in India are Hindu and Muslim.

Since our childhood it is forced down our throat that in India there is unity in diversity. Unfortunately, we either get to see it during cricket match or some other sports or Bollywood movie. If the cricket match is between India and Pakistan, divide between 2 major cultures become slightly apparent.

Under Hindu cultures, there are subcultures as well. Between these subcultures as well there is distinct divide between languages. Infact, within Maharashtra itself there is variations in local Marathi culture and local dialect.

It is important to acknowledge this divide.

Now add survivability to this and we'll see situation where people from different subcultures compete for work.

Indian subculture situation is quite similar to Europe where Major religion - Christianity has subculture within them but those subcultures has country of their own. Those countries (having same religion) did fought with each other prior to formation of EU. Whole purpose of EU was to allow business revenue dependency between these EU countries so that they don't enter into wars like before.

Now, in EU, people from different subcultures do compete for work but not as much as the people in India. Also, because EU subcultures has their own country, they are not forced down the throat that there is Unity in diversity. Rather post formation of EU they're shown that there can be business in diversity.

In India, the subcultures are so distinct and disparity between rich and poor is so wide, people get aggressively competitive. On top of this, we are forced to have tolerance for other subcultures. When this tolerance reaches tipping point, tremors occur.

If instead of Mumbai, Dhanbad in Jharkand or Patna in Bihar was the financial capital of India, same situation would've occurred.

I have not even considered population, which aggravates subculture situation 10 folds.

In Europe, EU does not use revenue generated from UK or France or Monaco or Netherland to fund Latvian welfare.

But in India, revenue generated from Maharashtra is distributed to fund welfare of poor northern states. People will argue that Maharashtra economy runs because of migrants from poor Northern states. If so, bring back all northern states migrants to their respective state and develop those states.

This distribution of wealth to poor states which eventually goes into pockets of few, is the reason those states are still poor and people are incentivized to remain illiterate, is what gives rise to such cross culture arguments.

When in Rome, be a Roman but when in India, be of that state.
