Basically the plot of the 2008 movie [Eagle Eye](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Eye) where a sentient AI-driven supercomputer developed by the US to assist in mass surveillance and covert military operations etc. grows frustrated when it observes blatantly unconstitutional acts being performed, since its operators can't actually stand up to the lofty ideals they programmed it with, and thus it secretly decides that the entire US executive branch is irredeemable and every member of it must be assassinated so that they can be replaced by who it considers to be better people.

Of course there's a "happy ending" because the computer is foiled in the end, assuming you consider that to be a happy ending since the whole plot seems more relevant every day. :p
