Snow at tungnath temple
Last Saturday, I set out on a journey to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world, nestled in the serene Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Starting from Chopta, the trek promised a blend of spirituality and nature’s raw beauty. The crisp mountain air filled my lungs as I began the ascent, surrounded by pine forests and the occasional chirping of birds. As I climbed higher, the trail transformed into a snowy wonderland. Fresh snow blanketed the path, glistening under the sunlight and adding a magical charm to the surroundings. Walking on the snow was both thrilling and challenging, with the crunch of my footsteps breaking the silence of the mountains. The cold was biting, but the beauty of the landscape was enough to warm my spirit. The journey, though only a few kilometers, felt timeless. The sight of the majestic Himalayan peaks in the background, partially shrouded in mist, was humbling. Reaching Tungnath, the temple stood as a testament to devotion and resilience, its ancient structure contrasting beautifully against the white canvas of snow.
