Reimbursing trading expenses and tax implications

I've traded on the side for years in my personal account and starting to work on automating some of my strategies. If I want to claim my expenses (API subscriptions, cloud instances, computers/SSDs/hardware I buy for it, home office) against my earnings on my tax return, does that implicate me to also have to pay self employment taxes because I'm calling it a business, or no?
