Kumari kandam

Hi guys. I am a non-tamilian here , I got to know about Kumari kandam, a land in tamil scriptures. I was Googling it but was not able to read whole damn articles. My interest here is to know about geography of that specific land. Like I have heard their were rivers and mountain ranges there. So, anybody here who can tell about the geographical description of Kumari kandam. And, also is it a part of your folklore or just in ancient scriptures?
