Has anyone tried investing using Piotroski F-score ?

Has anyone tried investing using Piotroski F-score. If yes how did this work out. How reliable is it as it just consider the current year performance for calculating the score. Some studies shows that just investing in 8-9 F score stocks has beaten the index.
