"website.com/category" keeps outranking "website.com"

Ok, so I have been dealing with this specific problem on one of my websites. No matter what I do, the category page keeps outranking my homepage for its keyword. I have removed all keywords from the category page that the homepage is supposed to be ranking for. This problem only occurs on Google. Any advice?
