Should I abandon format.com and rebuilt my website on wordpress?
I’ve been using [Format.com](http://Format.com) to build my photo retouching website since 2014. While the platform is somewhat user-friendly, it’s definitely not SEO-friendly. Toward the end of 2024, I decided to get serious about improving my website’s SEO. I spent an entire month revamping all my pages. I integrated meta tags, JSON-LD schema, and image alt text. I also renamed all my images, added substantial text and paragraphs to every page, and updated the URLs to make them more meaningful. After a month of hard work, I began seeing improvements in impressions on Google Search. However, [Format.com](http://Format.com) has several limitations. For example, I can’t update the robots.txt or sitemap.xml files. It also appears that the template prevents images from showing up in Google Images. From a design perspective, the platform also lacks flexibility. I can’t adjust thumbnail sizes on the main page, and some gallery formats don’t allow image linking. I’m considering hiring someone to replicate my website with a few minor changes. My goal is to make it easier to manage and to improve my Google rankings. Has anyone here switched from a template-based website to a custom-built one on WordPress? If so, how did it impact your SEO rankings3
