Dealing with domain resellers (3k quote)

Hi SEO friends. I hope the domain gods are treating you well. I really want a specific SLD to build a brand on, the quote I have atm is 3k USD, does anyone have any recommendations on resellers that have good prices, and how aggressive I should be with negotiations on a scale of “telling them to preform fellatio on me - begging for my life”? Have you ever hurt a campaign by using a SLD instead of TLD? As it’s a brand, I’m not relying on Google search traffic at all. Thankê!
